The expansion of the new office spaces for Veolia Umweltservice GmbH in the EDGE HafenCity building in Hamburg represents an innovative and modern interior design that subtly yet effectively reflects the company’s values. Clean lines, a minimalist aesthetic with exposed concrete walls, and carefully placed colour accents define the new working environment. The striking use of orange, in particular, serves as a unifying design element, enhancing a stimulating work atmosphere.
A central aspect of the concept is the creation of work-life spaces that prioritise visual transparency, short distances, and high-quality environments. Instead of conventional office structures, an open, light-filled workspace spanning 5,700 m² and three floors has been created, encouraging interaction and collaboration. A strategic workplace design was developed for 220 workstations, facilitating both communication and focused work. The optimisation of travel times and sightlines within the space significantly enhances the quality of the working environment.
Flexible Space Solutions with CAS Rooms
For customised spatial design, the Lindner Group relied on the modular room-in-room system CAS Rooms, which impresses with its flexibility and adaptability. In addition to the classic CAS Rooms, which provide meeting rooms and smaller retreat areas, the innovative CAS Rooms Flow system was also integrated. This system stands out with its delicate framework featuring integrated LED strips, creating an elegant, open spatial effect without visual barriers.
The optional curtains on the CAS Rooms Flow framework allow for the creation of flexible meeting zones and retreat areas, ensuring that focused work remains possible even in an open-plan office environment. Additionally, various seating niches were developed from the CAS Rooms Flow, making the office spaces highly versatile.
A particular design highlight: all Flow modules were customised in unique RAL special colours, strategically complementing the understated colour scheme of the overall concept.
T. Hoffmann, Senior Consultant at neotares Consult GmbH, emphasises the importance of these spatial solutions: “In 2024, Veolia’s new working environment in EDGE HafenCity, Hamburg, was introduced. During the development and planning phase, neotares sought a system for functional and aesthetic zoning. After carefully assessing the client’s requirements, the decision was made in favour of CAS Rooms by Lindner. The key factors were flexibility and variability. This made it possible to accommodate different usage scenarios, incorporate diverse materials as visual dividers, and align with the client’s design story using special colours and integrated lighting.”
With this well-thought-out concept, Veolia’s new Hamburg office not only offers a modern working environment but also sets new benchmarks for flexibility, design, and workplace well-being.
