The new ECA headquarters, the insurance provider for fire and elemental damage in the Canton of Vaud, serves as a modern administrative centre in Lausanne. For the first time, it brings together various emergency services under one roof, forming a unique centre of expertise for crisis management. Its distinctive glass facade gives the building an open and welcoming aesthetic, while the spacious, light-filled interiors create a pleasant working environment. The facility accommodates the police, fire brigade, ambulance services, and traffic control centres for the Lausanne-Morges metropolitan area. Covering an area of 16,500 m², the building provides space for around 280 employees as well as additional user groups. In addition to open office areas on the upper floors, it also includes reception and training rooms, exhibition spaces for fire and hazard prevention, and a restaurant.
To support the functional and technical excellence of the new build, the Swiss branch of Lindner SE supplied bespoke flooring systems that meet the highest standards of safety, durability, and sustainability. The LIGNA raised floor, made from robust wood-based panels, provides a stable and flexible foundation for office and administrative areas, while the natural aesthetic of the parquet flooring contributes to the building’s warm and open atmosphere. It is complemented by the NORTEC raised floor, made from non-combustible calcium sulphate panels, which meets the highest fire protection standards and holds a Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver rating. Both systems allow for the easy integration of technical infrastructure such as data and power cabling, offer adjustable height flexibility, and ensure a high level of walking comfort.
