The town of Neunburg vorm Wald with its 8,500 inhabitants is located in the eastern Bavarian district of Schwandorf in the middle of the Upper Palatinate Forest. The local elementary school attends about 300 students in 13 classes (12 regular classes, one transition class). An extension to the existing school building and the construction of a new gymnasium has increased the school's capacity while modernizing its infrastructure. The extension offers four new classrooms as well as rooms for teaching music and crafts.
Lindner contributed to the expansion with heated and chilled ceilings and NORIT products. The Plafotherm® E 213 metal ceilings are based on a suspension system in which water is conducted through the piping on the back of the ceiling panels. Depending on the desired temperature, cold water is passed through, whereupon the cooling effect spreads in a particularly pleasant way throughout the room. This is particularly efficient with chilled ceilings, as according to basic physical principles, the cold in rooms strives downward. The reverse is the case with the second part of Lindner´s commision, the underfloor heating systems from the NORIT brand. They were installed over a large area to heat the surfaces of the building. These include the cafeteria, the break sale, the staff room, the secretariat, various group rooms and the ancillary rooms of the newly built gymnasium. Due to the comprehensive use of geothermal energy, heating takes place in a resource-saving and environmentally friendly process.
