The Department of Obstetrics at the University Hospital Zurich (USZ) offers comprehensive care for pregnant women, those in labour, and new mothers, serving as an international centre of excellence in obstetric medicine. As part of the modernisation of the maternity unit in NORD1, newly designed birthing rooms have been created that provide the highest levels of comfort and safety.

Throughout the NORD 1 Maternity Unit – from the corridors and birthing rooms to the reception area – high-quality hook-on ceilings and Lindner fire rated metal ceilings create a harmonious overall appearance. They combine excellent acoustic properties with high functionality and certified safety.

While the metal ceilings ensure pleasant room acoustics and allow for flexible adaptation, the EI90 fire rated metal ceilings provide reliable protection for escape routes and technical installations in the event of an emergency. Both ceiling systems are tested and certified, with many connection and installation details already integrated as standard – enabling efficient and safe implementation.

Finished in an elegant white tone, the ceilings blend seamlessly into the architectural concept and complement the warm wooden elements in the corridors and birthing rooms.
