The digitalisation of the construction sector is receiving a significant boost through Construct-X – the first European data processing ecosystem. In this three-year, Europe-wide research project, around 40 partners from the construction industry, skilled trades, IT and research are working together to develop shared digital standards, tools and processes – with the aim of driving a sustainable transformation of the building and construction sector.
At the heart of Construct-X are the development of open data spaces, a cloud-based open-source reference architecture, and cloud-edge applications specifically tailored to the requirements of construction practice. This also includes the development of technologies for the “multi-provider cloud-edge continuum”, which will enable secure and delay-free data processing across distributed computing resources on construction sites.
The Lindner Group is also participating in this interdisciplinary consortium as an experienced project partner. “Construct-X provides us with an ideal platform to contribute our expertise both in construction execution and in the development of digital solutions, actively shaping a future-ready, digital construction industry. Of particular importance to us is the consistent integration of detailed environmental information throughout the entire value chain – from raw materials and products, transport and implementation, to operation and deconstruction. Our goal is not only to make this data available in a continuous and digital form, but also to enable its linking and aggregation into appropriate target systems, such as environmental reporting or the calculation of the carbon footprint,” says Professor Josef Steretzeder, Head of Integrated Management Services at Lindner.
Construct-X is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the European Union as part of the IPCEI-CIS initiative (Important Project of Common European Interest – Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services). This makes Construct-X a part of the EU strategy to strengthen Europe’s digital sovereignty.
At the Lindner Group, we firmly believe: the future of construction is digital – open, interconnected, and sustainable.
