At Hilti in Kaufering near Munich, one of the largest locations of the renowned construction technology company, a new Innovation Center for fire protection and adhesive anchor was recently opened. All areas and functions involved in research and development for fastening and protection are now housed under one roof.Hilti is globally known for its high-quality tools, system solutions, and services for the construction and energy industries.

Perfect Symbiosis: Facade as an Architectural Highlight

The facade of the Innovation Center is a real eye-catcher and further emphasises the significance of the building architecturally. Lindner Building Envelope GmbH was instrumental in planning, producing, and installing the highly thermally insulated aluminium post-and-beam facade.

This facade varies in the upper floors with transparent and opaque window bands, ensuring optimal light transmission and thermal insulation thanks to insulated glazing with sun protection coating. Three-sided supported, opaque corner glass insulation panels at the window bands not only provide stability but also enhance the aesthetic design by concealing support columns inside the building. Vertically arranged louvres additionally serve as structural sun protection, giving the building a modern and aesthetic touch.

Precision and Functionality: Details of the Facade Design

The well thought out and precisely executed facade details characterise the Hilti Innovation Centre. The basic structure of the window bands consists of galvanized steel frame sheets that ensure effective insulation and weather resistance. A drainage system behind the offset facade elements also ensures moisture protection and longevity of the facade. The entire facade was designed with a special focus on easing maintenance and energy efficiency.

The combination of innovation, sustainability, and aesthetics makes the building an inspiring workplace and a symbol of Hilti's innovative prowess. It is a place where ideas are born, research is advanced, and the future is shaped.
