Biogen is a leading global biotechnology company that has pioneered multiple breakthrough innovations including a broad portfolio of medicines to treat multiple sclerosis, the first approved treatment for spinal muscular atrophy, and two co-developed treatments to address a defining pathology of Alzheimer’s disease.
Biogen’s biologics manufacturing facility in Luterbach, Solothurn, combines the latest concepts for fed-batch cell culture technology and protein purification, enabling the large-scale production of biopharmaceuticals to provide meaningful therapies to patients with serious medical conditions around the globe.
The facility was created on 220.000 m2, providing space for 400 jobs in the BMC (production cell) as well as in warehouses and the administration.
During the construction of the production facility Lindner SE was responsible for the complete fit-out and the technical building services in the electrical and air-conditioning sectors. In addition to drywall ceilings and walls, Lindner also specifically installed metal and chilled ceilings. These not only impress with an intelligent cooling system, but also offer acoustic advantages. Furthermore, Lindner glass partitions ensure the necessary separation and sound insulation to guarantee optimal speech intelligibility in the buildings. The hollow floor system FLOOR and more® was also used in almost all areas, providing space for important installations and wiring. Additionally, the floor system was equipped with floor and tile coverings - for an elegant look. Carpentry and painting work rounded off Lindner's services.
