The Gerber Quarter in Stuttgart once was a well-known leather tanning centre. These days are past, and with the erection of the GERBER shopping centre, shopping has filled the blank. The GERBER´s 25,000 sqm of retail space are divided in 86 boutiques, diverse restaurants and grocery stores. Additionally, 16,000 sqm of high-quality office and residential spaces have been added to the GERBER complex.
The GERBER´s public areas are designed with an open and light-flooded architecture. This closes the circle to the surrounding promenades of the Stuttgart city centre, which provides the GERBER with countless visitors. A part of the modern appearance of the shopping centre´s interior is created by a contrasting interplay of black and white, which is only broken by the logos of the tenants. Furthermore, the mall features exclusively high-quality materials and skillful craftmanship.
Lindner was contracted with the complete interior fit-out of the mall and the overlaying office and residential structures. Additionally, Lindner constructed the multi-faceted envelope of the GERBER complex, which enabled optimal coordination between exterior and interior works and thus reduced the overall construction time. After a little more than one year of construction time, both exterior and interior had been finished.
