The new Ward Building of the Genevan University Hospital extends the existing capacities by 350 beds, which are organised in single and double rooms all set in a modern environment. The building is structured in a four-storey base, which is cladded in a glazed facade, and seven overlaying levels with hospital operation. Together with its three sublevels, the building has a gross floor area of 40,955 sqm. It unites several specialised units of the clinic, for which an intensive care ward and six operating theatres have been integrated in the building.
The Swiss branch of Lindner SE was contracted with the fitting of glazed partitions of type Lindner Life Freeze 137 with aluminum and glazed doors and further glazings. These systems are executed in accordance with various fire protection classes, depending on individual requirements. A particular example of this is a wall construction on the ground floor, which is 4 metres high while meeting fire protection class EI90. The appearance of all glazings was kept identical throughout all fire protection classes, while some where executed with a milk glass look.
