SQUARE at the Unversity of St. Gallen (HSG)

SQUARE at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) advertises with the slogan "The Future of Learning is now": As a prototype of the university of the future, the newly constructed building will be a meeting place for students, lecturers and alumni as well as experts from business, politics and culture. After the short two-year construction period, SQUARE has already opened for the spring semester of 2022 and has since offered sufficient space for innovative events and teaching concepts. A special highlight: Architect Sou Fujimoto provided an individual colour and room design.

As various studies have shown, our surroundings have a considerable influence on our communication and cooperation – this makes smart interior fit-out indispensable. The tight construction time as well as the high architectural requirements challenged the project team, but in the end, all wishes could be fully implemented. Lindner supplied both foldable mobile partitions and in-house manufactured partition systems: The fall-proof Lindner Life Freeze 137 glass partition encounters the Lindner Logic 100 Timber partition as well as the Lindner Logic 100 Metal and Lindner Logic 100 Metal acoustic partitions. To match the creative and inspiring learning environment, the wooden partitions were covered with colourful, perforated textiles and now impress in red, yellow, green and blue. Furthermore, a uniform look for the mobile glass partitions and the partition systems was achieved by using the same structural glazing – and thus providing a harmonious overall appearance. Another special feature awaits the Lindner door systems: In the case of the GTB 100 glass door, the frame panel was also covered with glass, creating a particularly elegant and filigree look. Lindner also developed, produced and installed a special solution for the modern touch panel of the HSG – the magnetic screen is suspended in the wall joint with a metal holder and can be quickly and easily removed from the wall and reattached to it at any time.
