In collaboration with the Hans Lindner Foundation, the Lindner Group has transformed the former St. Gertrud Monastery complex in Tettenweis into a modern multi-generational residence: the Parkwohnstift Tettenweis. Situated on a 38,000 m² estate that, prior to renovations in 2018, was home to just nine nuns, the site has been revitalised as a vibrant space for seniors, children, and the wider community.

Three new bungalow apartments designed for age-appropriate living, a daycare centre, and a day care facility contribute to the multi-generational nature of Parkwohnstift, bringing life to the former monastic grounds. Public areas, such as a café within the courtyard, have also been created and are open to visitors from the surrounding area.

Renovation under Historic Preservation

The renovation required special considerations for historical preservation. Key historical features such as the solid oak doors, stone floors with ornamental tiles, and protected wooden floors and ceilings have been largely preserved. The exterior facade has also been restored to its original sandy hue.

Integrating modern fire safety measures while preserving the historic fabric of the site was especially challenging. In close collaboration with the Historic Preservation Authority, Lindner, alongside GiB Gesellschaft für innovative Bautechnologie, developed a specialised solution to protect the historic wooden ceilings while meeting the highest fire safety standards. Additionally, NORIT dry screed was utilised, providing a non-flammable foundation essential for fire safety. Modern smoke and fire alarm systems, along with an intelligent early detection system, ensure swift response in case of fire.

Further products from the subsidiary NORIT, such as NORIT fill layers and dry screed, were employed in the restoration of the flooring systems to establish a durable, fire-safe foundation.

Modern Finishing with Lindner Products

In addition to the extensive fit-out and coordination of subcontractor services, various Lindner wooden doors, parquet flooring, and lighting fixtures from their own lighting factory were installed. Joinery services included a range of carpentry work, along with dry lining, tiling, and painting, as well as electrical installations and fittings for heating, ventilation, and plumbing.

The Parkwohnstift Tettenweis was completed in 2021 and has since provided a new home for seniors, families, and the remaining sisterhood.
