A Facade Structural Engineer specializes in the design and analysis of building facades, ensuring that they are not only visually appealing but also structurally sound, durable, and able to withstand environmental factors. This role combines engineering principles with architectural design, focusing on the exterior envelope of buildings. He is responsible for the structural design, analysis, and performance of facade systems in buildings. They work closely with architects, facade consultants, and contractors to develop solutions that meet aesthetic and functional criteria while ensuring safety, stability, and compliance with relevant codes and standards
Considering all HS&E aspects by developing the façade system to avoid any human
damage in following process such as production and installation.
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Specialty in facade engineering is advantageous.
International work experience in facade industry
Recognition through prior learning through industry experience
Must be detail oriented & ensure accuracy in all aspects of the work
Organized & systematic to ensure all steps of design development have been followed
Good understanding of the various installation & testing methods
Business Presentation Level English is necessary
Proficiency in structural analysis software (SAP2000, MEPLA, STRAND, RSTAB) and familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) tools
Knowledgeable with 2-D and 3-D design software including but not limited to AutoCAD, REVIT
Well versed with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Power Point
Minimum 2 years solid experience in unitized curtain wall, glass wall and façade stick system design
Relevant experience in facade engineering or structural design, particularly in building envelope systems, is preferred
Your new challenges:
Analyze the technical specifications, contract and the project “scope of work” and ensure that the design team understands them
Assist in project planning and scheduling to meet critical deadlines and milestones
Develop and design facade systems, including curtain walls, cladding, and other exterior elements, ensuring structural integrity under various loading conditions (wind, seismic, snow, etc.)
Perform detailed structural analyses using software-modeling tools and finite element analysis (FEA) to predict the behavior of facade elements
Evaluate and select appropriate materials for facade systems, considering structural performance, durability, weight, and aesthetic qualities
Research new materials and technologies that can enhance the performance and sustainability of facade systems
Work closely with architects, building envelope consultants, and mechanical engineers to integrate façade systems with the overall architectural vision and building design
Coordinate with contractors and fabricators during the construction process to ensure design intent and structural integrity are maintained
Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards, including those related to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability
Prepare documentation and reports that demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements
Develop and oversee performance-testing protocols to assess the structural integrity and durability of facade components and systems
Conduct inspections and reviews during the construction phase to ensure that the installation conforms to design specifications and quality standards
Address and resolve design and construction challenges related to the facade systems, providing technical support and solutions on-site as needed
Provide guidance on installing and maintaining facade systems to ensure long-term performance and safety
Communicate technical information effectively to clients and stakeholders, providing explanations of design concepts, methodologies, and benefits
Participate in presentations and design reviews to gather feedback and ensure alignment with project expectations
