All about the German Construction Award
Conducted and chaired by Professor Dr Ing Manfred Helmus of the University of Wuppertal, the event honours the pioneers of the construction industry every year. In a three-stage procedure, the organisational procedures as well as the company's working methods and processes are examined: The evaluation procedure is based on the size of the construction companies in order to avoid possible distortions. The award, which has been taking place since 2013, was presented this year for the first time under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction.
The "Key" to a Modern Future
Digital technologies have simplified our lives enormously in recent years: Yet there are still some acute problems, particularly in the construction industry, which Lindner has been able to solve with the help of state-of-the-art technologies. An example of this? In order to be allowed to work on construction sites, each employee must present various documents: However, there are no standards for these construction site IDs, which is why the data protection requirements often collide with the client's interests in avoiding illegal employment, moonlighting and wage dumping. For this reason, Lindner, together with its partners tibe.io and esatus, developed a digital universal construction key: With the app, handwritten lists and copied documents on construction sites are a thing of the past, and a paperless and contactless check of the persons working on the construction site is made possible. Required documents, such as ID or a work permit, are encrypted as digital credentials via blockchain technology and sent to the smartphone of the construction site employee. The resulting individual QR code then serves as a "construction site key". The verification of the correctness and validity of the necessary documents on the construction site takes place in a matter of seconds with a simple scan. This not only reduces the paper chaos, but also the time required. At the same time, there is complete transparency regarding the transfer of one's own data. Site access is standardised, digital and fast.
Smart Risk Assessment on Construction Projects
In addition to access authorisation and document management, occupational health and safety on the construction site also plays a major role. Especially in the area of project management, the implementation of all legal and customer-specific requirements, especially in cooperation with our subcontractors and installation partners, presents us with great difficulties time and again: One of the biggest challenges here is the legally required risk assessment and the obligatory on-site instruction. To ensure these requirements and thus safe working on our assembly sites, the IMS occupational health and safety department and Lindner digital have developed a web-based application called LinSafe: The new tool makes the entire process of risk assessment and instruction much easier and faster. The associated and obligatory documentation is, of course, done digitally and automatically.

Another product with which Lindner was able to convince the jury is a digital tool for simple project planning as well as agile and lively project control. The platform embodies the move away from rigid project planning towards a dynamic, easy-to-use central environment that depicts the day-to-day life of construction projects in an easy-to-understand way. This makes it possible to create maximum transparency for all project participants in order to improve collaboration, make it more efficient and be able to react more quickly to changes. As a result, projects and their status can be visualised in an easily understandable way and can be evaluated in real time at any time via a dashboard.
