To celebrate its 15th anniversary, the DGNB invited around 300 guests to its self-proclaimed "Sustainability Day" at the gold mine in Fellbach: The venue, a former foundry, added that special touch with its gold wall there, making the location the perfect place for the celebration.
An Event all about Sustainability
At the beginning of the festive day, the DGNB members ‒ including the representatives of Lindner SE ‒ were invited to the general meeting. After the subsequent joint lunch, the afternoon programme, consisting of lectures and discussion rounds on two different stages, was on the agenda. A wide variety of target groups met here ‒ but what they all had in common was an interest in sustainable building: The speakers ranged from product manufacturers who presented their resource-saving solutions to students who informed about current research projects. The breaks between the varied points on the programme were primarily used for networking: At the "Marketplace of Ideas" in the centre of the room, the DGNB partners and the finalists of the DGNB Sustainability Challenge were able to present themselves with their stands and exchange ideas with each other. Furthermore, interested parties had the opportunity to take part in a guided tour of WITTENSTEIN's production site in Fellbach.
The DGNB Sustainability Challenge 2022
A special highlight of the event was the award ceremony for the winners of this year's DGNB Sustainability Challenge. New innovations and technologies are necessary to drive sustainability in the construction industry: With the Sustainability Challenge, the DGNB wants to give the most sustainable ideas a platform for further development. This year's jury prize in the "Research" category went to a team from the Chair of Sustainable Construction at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology: With their "NEWood" project, they have created a resource-efficient alternative to classic MDF and chipboards. Among the start-ups, mygreentop came out on top with a green roof system for pitched roofs. The winner of the "Innovation" category was the company Home Power Solutions with a hydrogen-based electricity storage system. The audience award went to the German Aerospace Centre with their research project "Lime Storage".

The representatives of the Lindner Group rated the "Sustainability Day" overall as a successful day with a lot of exchange and great potential for new ideas. They particularly appreciated the relaxed atmosphere among the participants: The discussions hardly had the character of a trade fair, but took place much more on a personal level. Many of the guests were also interested in the rental model offered by the Lindner Group. The staff on site provided lots of information about the used floor panels, where the circular model is already implemented, and received exciting impulses from other guests on the topic of "Circular Building". Such discussions with interested parties, competitors and experts help to broaden one's own perspective and to remain open to new things ‒ the "Sustainability Day" uses this concept to initiate new innovations in the field of green building and to network like-minded people with each other.
